Casa Professa fu fondata nel 1564 dall'Ordine dei Gesuiti. Fu fortemente danneggiata dai bombardamenti del 1943 e ricostruita nel dopoguerra rispettando l'aspetto originario.

E' uno dei maggiori esempi del barocco siciliano, nella sua forma più ricca ed esuberante; spettacolari sono gli stucchi e le sculture e gli intarsi marmorei policromi.

Casa Professa was founded in 1564 by the Order of the Jesuits. It is located below an old network of tunnels, probably early Christian catacombs. It was heavily damaged by bombs in 1943 and rebuilt after the war respecting its original appearance.

It is one of the greatest examples of Sicilian Baroque at its most rich and exuberant form, spectacular are its stuccoes and polychrome marble inlays.
